"The Bend-Belluno sister city and rotary club relationship is an extraordinary thing. With everything thing from student exchanges to cultural exchanges, I have seen so many positive aspects come from this partnership.
In 2014, my daughter participated in the student exchange, and had an incredible experience both visiting and hosting. She made a lifelong friend, fell in love with the Italian lifestyle and it also opened her eyes to the world. The following year, she made a conscious choice to attend a college that had a branch campus is Florence, and spent her entire freshman year there—a truly memorable and life changing experience.
Recently I had a chance to visit Belluno, and was overwhelmed by their hospitality and goodwill. During my visit we got a walking tour complete with a history of the town from the resident historian , a hosted lunch and a visit with the parents of my daughter’s host family. Fellow Rotarian Angelo was an excellent host and is a strong supporter of our club’s and city’s relationship.
I would recommend that if you ever have a chance to visit, that you take the time to go and see Beautiful Belluno, get your picture taken next to the sister city plaque dedication in the main piazza, and further our wonderful relationship."
